Quilts for Kolton Dunaway

A precious little boy from Moselle, MS, was badly burned in April when he jumped off a porch into what looked like a sandpile but was a fire pit that had been used the previous day. We invited Kolton and his parents and grandmother to our Children’s Quilt workday on August 5 so we could give him a quilt. He has a facebook page at www.facebook.com/koltonsride, where news of his progress can be found. Kolton will have his eighth surgery on August 8 in Jackson.

Our guild makes quilts all year and donates them to agencies, but we rarely get to see the children who receive the quilts, so getting to meet Kolton and his family was a special treat to us. He was rather shy when he first arrived but soon warmed up and walked about the room to see what everyone was doing, checking out fabrics, scissors, and sewing machines.

We also gave the family a quilt to be used for fundraising to help with medical expenses. They have an event planned for August 23 called “Kolton’s Ride” at the Keg and Barrel in Hattiesburg. They also have an account set up at Community Bank, ph. 601-477-9361.
