Community Involvement

For many years PBQ has participated in pro bono work as well as acquainting our community with the beauty and heritage of quilts. We make quilts all year and donate to hospitals, child welfare shelters, Habitat for Humanity and other places where we see a need. At Christmas we bring toys, school supplies, and personal items as well as stockings children and families.

We have monthly Sew Days to work on projects for the community, such as pillows, small blankets, NICU isolette covers, “scent cloths” for preemies. The pillows are given from the Emergency Rooms as well as the Pediatric Units of Hattiesburg’s  Forrest General Hospital and Merit Health Wesley, and Marion General Hospital in Columbia.

Sew Days are held on the 1st Tuesday (most months) in Choral Hall of University Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. Sew Days for 2023 are:

January 3
February 7
March 7
May 2
July 11
August 1
September 5
November 7

Sew Days will not be held on April 4, June 6, October 3, and December 5.
